In a significant move to advance public healthcare, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi has partnered with Blockchain For Impact (BFI) to drive innovation in biomedical research. The collaboration was formalized with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at AIIMS Delhi.

The partnership will focus on a cutting-edge project to identify genetic and epigenetic markers for "recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTIs)", a condition that imposes a significant healthcare burden. Funded under the BFI-BIOME Medical INI Grant Program, this initiative aims to bolster upstream and deep science research, fostering multi-sectoral collaboration to strengthen India’s healthcare ecosystem.

Dr. M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS Delhi, emphasized the institution’s commitment to pioneering healthcare innovation, stating, “The support from the BFI-BIOME Medical INI Grant Program enables us to explore new frontiers in medical science, empowering our faculty and researchers to make transformative contributions to global healthcare.”

The Blockchain For Impact network has been instrumental in accelerating biomedical research in India through collaborations with premier institutions like IISc, IIT Bombay, CSIR-CCMB, and THSTI. Dr. Gaurav Singh, CEO of BFI, highlighted the broader mission, saying, “This synergy will undoubtedly expedite advancements in Indian biomedical research, ultimately contributing to the betterment of the healthcare ecosystem in India.”

With AIIMS Delhi’s legacy in addressing critical health challenges like tuberculosis, malaria, and diabetes through groundbreaking research, this partnership promises to catalyze transformative healthcare solutions that benefit patients across the nation.
